Requirements planning is the work of deciding what your ecommerce project actually needs to do before anyone writes code or pushes pixels. We help you turn business goals into a clear, prioritized plan: what the store has to accomplish, how each piece should behave, and how it gets built. Do this well and the rest of the project goes faster, costs less, and ends up closer to what you wanted.

Requirements usually fall into three layers, and we work across all of them:

  • Business: the goals and outcomes. What you are trying to grow, fix, or launch, and how you will know it worked. This is the conversation we have with owners and senior staff.
  • Functional: how the store behaves to hit those goals, written so the people building and merchandising it know exactly what to do.
  • Technical: the details developers need, including integrations, data flows, and edge cases.

We do not insist on a giant technical spec for its own sake. On a lot of projects, heavy documentation goes stale the moment the build starts changing, so we plan enough to be clear and then work in short cycles, adjusting as real screens and real data show up. For a Shopify or Shopify Plus build, that means deciding early which things are theme work, which are apps, and which need custom development, so nothing important gets discovered halfway through.
